Accomplishments of 2025, Goals for 2026 and Dayton Hamvention
2025 was a big year for W0AEZ Radio Gear LLC—and it happened because of you and the amateur radio community. Your support has meant everything, and is not something I take for granted.
What we accomplished in 2025:
The BP-Y14L received a major v7 update featuring improved texture and a new locking mechanism, making it more robust, secure, and satisfying to use. The BP-Y24L also got exterior texture improvements to match.
The BP-K75L for the Kenwood D74/75 was a runaway success. Yes, we had to release a v2 and handle some warranty replacements—but the demand proved what we already knew: these radios were starving for real battery life, and now they have it.
Behind the scenes, we expanded the team with assembly contractors and finally got the second 3D printer assembled and running in January 2026. Lead times have dropped from 6 weeks to under 4.
Dayton Hamvention 2025:
I'll be vending at Hamvention in the flea market area—and I'm bringing something new. If you've been asking for it, there's a good chance this is it. Stay tuned for the official announcement as we get closer.
Goals for 2026:
We're not slowing down. Here's what's on the roadmap:
Better unboxing experience. We're working on proper product boxes that match the quality of what's inside. You deserve more than paper wrap and a white mailer.
Lower international shipping costs. We have a dedicated DHL rep and are actively negotiating better rates. International customers, we hear you.
Faster fulfillment. We've cut lead times from 6 weeks to under 4. The next target is 2 weeks, with an ultimate goal of shipping within 72 hours.
More products. Several new and highly requested items are in development. Dayton won't be the only announcement this year.
"For Hams, By Hams" storefront. We're building a new section of the site to feature products from other amateur radio makers and small shops. Gear I've personally vetted and can stand behind—so you can buy with confidence, even if the callsign is unfamiliar. More details coming soon.
2nd generation batteries. This is the big one. We're looking to develop custom PCBs to replace off-the-shelf components across our entire battery line. Better performance, better reliability, fully ours. If you're a PCB engineer or designer available for contract work, I want to hear from you.
Thank you for a great year. Here's to an even better 2026.
73,
Kevin, W0AEZ Radio Gear LLC
