About your Kenwood Battery and my plan to fix it.

This is an updated version of a previous post and email.
What's the issue?
Kenwood HTs are defaulting to low power TX on boot. The HT remains fully functional and can still toggle to high power.
A number of forum members and helpful customers have determined that, because the sense pin isn't being used, the radio thinks it is a AA or Ni-MH battery pack.

What's the fix?
The same helpful individuals who helped track the issue down also think that a 1.75Mohm resistor cross pin 1 and 3 will solve the issue.

What am I doing now?
All unfulfilled Kenwood batteries will be put on hold until the fix is complete. Please expect an additional 2-3 week delay. I appreciate your understanding.
I've already submitted the new board design to JLC and have to wait for the new test boards to come in. Once everything is verified and the issue resolved, I will order in mass quantities. This process should take 2-3 weeks, hopefully less. I've spent extra on expedited shipping and service.

What can you expect?
Once the fix is finalized, I will be offering everyone the fix free of charge.
There will be two options.
1. (Fastest) I will send you a replacement CORE. You will remove the old core and transfer the lithium cells to the new part. I will provide a detailed video on how to do this. The process should take less than 5 minutes of your time.
2. (Slower) I would be happy to offer an upgrade/exchange at no cost. You will ship the old battery to me and I'll happily perform the upgrade for you. Once the upgrade is completed it will be shipped back to you.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
At this time, there is nothing you need to do. If you are waiting for your order, it will be placed on hold until the fix is completed. If you have additional items in your order, your order will be split and all items that are not the Kenwood battery will be shipped. This will be done as well at no additional cost to you.

When the fix is ready, a final email will be sent to notify you.
I will provide further instructions at that time.

I deeply appreciate your support and understanding.
I also thank you for letting me fix the battery pack and make your experience even better.
