I received my battery for my FT3D. Still on it's first charge and haven't used it much since I got the Kenwood D-75. So far, it's going strong. Having the bigger battery helps with the grip, especially with being a right handed person. I don't cover the microphone on the radio with my ring finger as easily compared to the original battery.
The fit is a bit tight, but no issues getting it installed. So far, I'm liking the larger battery. Much longer run time. Can't wait until hunting season is here because my FT3D is my go to HT for the field. With the larger battery, it should last all day maybe longer. I'm hoping for a battery for the Kenwood D-75, wink wink!!!
Absolutely brilliant and I hope this is made for more HT models. The battery is much thicker than stock but it seems to last forever. Probably more than 24 hours on receive. USPS gave me trouble but the battery did eventually arrive. Took a few weeks. Not a big deal.
I use the battery with an FT3D. First, it works as advertised. Charges from USB-C, either directly from a C charger or through a USB-A to C cable. I have not run the battery all the way down, so no idea of its endurance. Seems to last much longer than the weak stock battery, but I have not put it on a timer.
Not a negative, just a note: With the battery pack, the HT is much thicker than the stock battery. Not too big for my hands, but a pouch snug with the stock battery will be too small with the BP-Y14L.
Afraid I can’t comment, still have not received the battery.
I have a feeling the snow storm on the plains was a big factor. The USPS is not a choice for me any longer. I have had items 60 miles away take over a week to reach me. Yes UPS costs more, but they are more reliable….give you a review when it gets here.
Sadly, the USPS seems to be afraid of Lithium batteries. It took 28 days from start to finish to get it from Colorado to Florida. Rumor has it that the USPS center in Denver seems to be afarid of so called "hazardous materials" shipments. In any event the battery got here, i spiffed it up with a "welcome to Florida" charge and it has been scanning and playing my FT5 for three days now which would have drained the Yaesu OEM battery. I buddy came by the shack this afternoon and when he saw the current voltage, his response was "I gotta get me one of those." I have already ordered the cradle.
Finally someone gets that a nice big battery is better than multiple small ones. Using this on my FT-3 and did not have to worry about schlepping the charger. My 4runner has built in USB-C in the front and back so charging was a no brainer.
Thank you for making this and making it affordable
The only issue is the size, but the battery life out weighs the size. Current technology cannot go smaller for the price. I just use the battery that came with radio when out and about. Use the big battery at home for listening and chatting. Great to have in an emergency kit as well.
