BP-K75L v2 — High-Capacity USB-C Battery for Kenwood TH-D74 & TH-D75
More Power. Modern Charging. Built to Last.
The BP-K75L is a 5,000mAh (36Wh) extended-life battery pack that replaces the stock 1,820mAh Kenwood battery — delivering 2.7× the capacity. Charge it with any USB-C cable, swap the cells when they wear out, and finally use your D74 or D75 all day without carrying spares.

What's Included:
- (1) BP-K75L v2 battery pack, fully assembled
- (1) Belt clip spacer with screws
- (1) Spare Battery Latch
Design Details:
The v2 includes a metal hinge, included belt clip spacer, and a fix for the low-power default behavior found in v1. The locking mechanism is different from the stock battery — do not bend the latch outward, as this will damage it. If you need help with installation, watch this video.
Each battery is 3D-printed and hand-assembled — minor texture variations are cosmetic and do not affect performance.
Charging Notes:
Not all USB-C cables are created equal. If charging doesn't start, try a different cable. USB-A to USB-C cables are the most universally reliable. PPS-capable chargers will negotiate the optimal charge rate automatically.
Recommended Charger:
Any USB-C charger rated 15W or higher will charge the battery at full speed. Lower-wattage chargers will still work — they'll just charge slower. PPS (Programmable Power Supply) chargers will automatically negotiate the optimal charge rate but are not required. A USB-A to USB-C cable with a standard USB-A wall adapter also works and is the most universally reliable option.
Charging Indicator:
- Red + Blue(May appear purple): Charging
- Red only: Fully charged
- Blue only: Slow charge
- Red flashing: Cable or charger issue — swap the cable
User-Serviceable Cells:
The BP-K75L is designed for long-term ownership. When cell capacity eventually degrades, you can open the pack and replace the Samsung 50E 21700 cells yourself. No need to buy a whole new battery.
Printable Replacement Parts:
Want to print your own? ASA or ABS filament strongly recommended.

FAQ:
Q: My battery isn't charging.
A: Try a different USB-C cable. If the red light flashes, the battery detected a cable issue — swap it and try again.
Q: Can I replace the cells myself?
A: Yes. The BP-K75L is user-serviceable. The cells are Samsung 50E 21700s and can be swapped when needed.
Q: I have a Version 1 battery and it defaults to low TX power. Is there a fix?
A: Yes. Version 1 could cause the radio to default to low power on startup. You can still toggle to high power manually. This was fixed in Version 2, and a retrofit fix was deployed to affected v1 customers. If you're still experiencing this, contact me directly.
Q: Is this compatible with the stock desk cradle?
A: No. The BP-K75L is not compatible with the Kenwood stock desk cradle.
Q: How do I install the battery?
A: The latch mechanism is different from stock. Do not bend the latch outward. Watch the installation video for a walkthrough.
