While the charging module is upgraded, not all USB-C cables are created equally, and may not be compatible. If you run into charging issues, please try a different cable or charger. A USB-A to USB-C cable is nearly guaranteed to work.

FAQ
Q. When will this be back in stock? A. I try to restock on a weekly basis. If you missed the current batch, I invite you to sign up for email notifications at the bottom of any page, or by clicking the 'CQ CQ CQ' on the bottom left of the screen.
Q. My battery is not charging. A. Try a different USB cord. Not all cords are created equally.
Q. The light is flashing, what does it mean? A. The board as detected an issue with the cord you are trying to use. Swap it out and try again.
Q. What do the lights mean? A. Two lights indicate charging. One indicates charged. Flashing indicates an error.
Battery performs flawlessly. Would recommend to anyone looking to upgrade their stock battery.
I have purchased 3 batteries for my FT5DR. During hurricane Helene and Milton, I was able to use the radio to stay in touch with the local hurricane net and SKYWARN net. While listening to the nets, each battery lasted around 24 -30 hours before they needed a charge. FYI the battery meter on the FT5DR is not very accurate, it showed a “one bar status” for almost 10 hours.

It’s really the battery Yaesu should have made. It feels good in the hand, and the battery life is great. I also like that I can replace the cells when they wear out.
I was not wildly impressed with the factory battery for the Yaesu Ft-5DR and had been looking into different options when I stumbled onto this. The run time far exceeds what I was expecting with this and am greatly surprised by this. I have only found what I would consider downfalls but they are miniscule at best, I wish this had provisions for a belt clip. I noticed after I had received the one I have that there were models with belt clips. The only one issue is the charging port, I love that it is a USB-C but wish it were on the side rather than the bottom. The overall fit and finish is great, the battery life is great and the USB-C really opens the door to different charger options. I would recommend this battery.
The only extended battery on the market and a great product.
